Daily

The Daily Community was a group run by Smugmug in its early days. Rather like a Flickr group where you could see people's latest photos and comment on them.

Smugmug ruined the community of the DC by removing this feature and fracturing the friendships that had grown in the community over a number of years. None of the contacts I made can now see when I upload a new photo and I cannot see theirs.

As a consequence, views on my photos dropped from about 20,000 a day to about 40 a day.

Burnt down July 2014

Eastbourne

Taken on a rather grim day. This pier was opened in 1870. One of few proper 'pleasure' piers left in Britain really. This is how a pier should be - lots of rides, tea rooms, tat shops. Bit grubby even. Wish Southend was a bit more like this. Eastbourne Pier has the famous 'Camera Obscura' which I would love to have a peek at - but every time I go to Eastbourne, it's never open. The Obscura is the dome on the first pavilion there and can be accessed via a set of stairs.

*Smugbugs haven't been fixed. Hoping that my pic won't take eight hours to show up today, and that other people's pics show up today. Otherwise we will be E for 'empty'.

I've already got some ideas for next Sunday 'F' and in a few weeks time 'J' - "fooking" and "joke" if this keeps up.*

  • This is Lynmouth harbour where I used to come on holiday with my family as a small child. I came back here for the first time in twenty years recently.
  • I noticed quite a few other people putting up butterflies, so thought I would have a go. Not my usual thing, but have been playing with a lens last few days.
Don't know what sort it is, perhaps you can tell me. It's on my potato plants.
Detail and perspective as if drifting in from the sea. The Britain of a byegone era.

Beautiful shot! Love the POV. Really interesting looking place. I just posted a shot, so we'll see if it finds it's way in. I hadn't posted anything in a few days, the SmugBug has been such a bummer.
