Daily

The Daily Community was a group run by Smugmug in its early days. Rather like a Flickr group where you could see people's latest photos and comment on them.

Smugmug ruined the community of the DC by removing this feature and fracturing the friendships that had grown in the community over a number of years. None of the contacts I made can now see when I upload a new photo and I cannot see theirs.

As a consequence, views on my photos dropped from about 20,000 a day to about 40 a day.

Bonfire night

Thanks for looking at yesterday's fireworks picture and the encouraging comments. I promise not to bore people with fireworks pictures as I don't like to keep putting up the same thing every day.

Someone asked if I used a tripod, no it's handheld. Tripods are a pain to carry about and make you look like a ponce, so I CBA. And tbh I find it doesn't really make much difference. Although I did use it for the lunar eclipse shot.

Another great job. Love all the little pin pricks of light surrounding the main burst.

Well done! I've always used a tripod for fireworks shots. They are a pain but I don't think I could hand hold a fireworks shot.

Nicely done, especially without using a tripod! i cant pull this off without using one since i tend to do long exposures to catch multiple bursts.
